The University library was founded in 1908. In its fund there are more than 1200 thousand books, including 200 thousands - published before 1917. There are 12000 books in the rare book fund. Among them there are rarities: "History of Peloponnesus War" by Fukidida printed in Basel in 1540; "Sonnets and Canzonas" by Petrarka (1553); "Triod Fast", printed by Ivan Fedorov's pupil Andronik Timofeev Nevezhoy in 1589; "A Cathedral Code" by Tsar Alexey Mikhaylovich (1649); rare editions of textbooks: "Arithmetics" by Leonti Magnitsky which was issued due to the decree of Peter the Great in 1703; "The Russian Grammar" by M.V.Lomonosov printed during lifetime of the author; "The ABC-Book, or the Initial Doctrine to Those Who Want to Study" - the single remained copy. The library has over 18 thousand readers.
